The actual week of the 27th of April I began to get sick and didn’t do any university work for two weeks as I was bed ridden. So these readings and my catch up work began roughly in the middle of May.
My eyes got opened a little bit more after reading this chapter. I always thought that legal aid and pro bono were the same thing, how I was mistaken. I tried to relate some of the different types of justice to actual real time situations to see ow they fit into the picture. I was also unaware that if you earn a certain amount of income, you are not eligible to receive legal aid.
I managed to go to the Townsville Supreme Court to sit in on a possible murder charge which I think may have been downgraded to manslaughter. I found it interesting that the Barristers that I saw in the District Court earlier were also in the Supreme Court. That made me think if they were possibly legal aid for the defendant. However the case was adjourned because of something that had been published in the media the weekend before. The barrister all went into the Judges chambers to have a discussion and the case was adjourned for another date.
