Week 4

During this week I managed to get to court for the first time ever. I went to the Townsville District Court to hear some of the criminal proceedings that they held. I found it quite fascinating and had never before seen how the barrister actually does his/her job. I would say that after sitting through a couple of the court proceedings that I would now definitely look at being at the bench.

Interpretation was the topic that we were learning about in the text book. I am sure glad that I am doing a subject on statutory interpretation. I found it to be quite a thorough bit of content when trying to determine, in laymen’s terms what the piece of legislation or law is actually implying. There are so many different ways that you could look at the piece. I am glad that I learnt to have a look at the second reading, as the MP’s do put the it into a better prospective to understand.
